PM to get crucial new 'eyes and ears' by end of Nov

In the world outside Matoshree... news comes in that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh recently constituted a high-power search committee to identify officers for the posts of Director of Intelligence Bureau and Secretary Research and Analysis Wing. These two posts are considered to be the 'eyes and ears' of a prime minister.

The posts will be filled by end of November, but Dr Singh has relegated the responsibility of selecting the chiefs to the National security advisor (Shiv Shankar Menon), Principal Secretary Pulok Chatterji and Cabinet Secretary.  Ajit Seth. According to the internal assessment -- 12 names have been
shortlisted for the DIB and four for Secretary RAW.
