Temple trusts will get weapons license

In the wake of the theft of an idol from Dive Agar in Maharashtra, Home Minister R R Patil today said the government would provide temple trusts the license for possessing weapons.

"Government provides security to some important temples. Some of these are under threat from terrorists and dacoits," Patil said.

"If temple trusts want to be provided with a license for possessing weapons, then the government will allow them," he said.
