Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed's supporters clashed with the security forces in Male during a rally to protest his ouster.
Protesters threw pavement cement blocks, glass marble pebbles and chilly dissolved water over the security forces on Thursday night.
After a confrontation for over two hours, the protest was dismantled and roads were evacuated at around 1 am local time, Maldives police said.
