July 06, 2012  13:24

The Supreme Court has dismissed a PIL against presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee which said that he had misuesed his office of the finance ministry and sought support for his candidature.

Last week, the Delhi High Court had dismissed a plea challenging the candidature of ex-Finance Minister Pranab Mukerjee for the upcoming Presidential election. The petitioner had alleged that Mukherjee had misused his office and is guilty of obtaining 'pecuniary advantage.'

This is PranabMukherjee's second win in the increasingly murky presidential elections. The first was when the BJP's demand that his candidature be struck down over the office of profit was quashed.
