For Mamata, Congress ignores Chidambaram!

In an apparent conciliatory signal to Mamata Banerjee ahead of the Presidential poll, Congress today chose to ignore Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's criticism of Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal on the issue of political violence.

"I am not aware of any such statement. This all happens in politics," party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury told reporters.

She was asked whether Congress agreed with the statement of Chidambaram that there had been an increase in political violence after the takeover of Mamata Banerjee as chief minister of West Bengal in May last year.
