Environment min objects to UP CM's lion safari project

In a set back for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest has instructed to stop the construction of the lion safari in n his native district of Etawah.     

The UP government has been asked to file action taken report in 15 days.  

In a letter to the Principal Secretary (Forests) on July 1, the MoEF said the state government was going ahead with the project illegally, as no permission under the Forest Conservation Act had been taken from MoEF for using any forest land for the purpose of the proposed lion safari. A copy of the letter was also sent to the Chief Secretary. 

The lion safari is Akhilesh Yadav's dream project.
