Bhushan fined for not paying full amount of stamp duty

The Allahabad HC has orderd Shanti Bhushan to pay a Rs 27.22 lakh fine as stamp duty in a month's time. He has been fined for not paying the full amount of stamp duty for the purchase of land at the posh Civil Lines area in Allahabad.

It was found that the property has been wrongly quoted as 6,67,000 as against approximately Rs.19 crore, a shortfall of approximately Rs.1.33 lakh and subsequently a notice was issued in Bhushan's name in April last year. A case under Indian Stamps Act was also registered.
