Assam: Ban on ULFA, NDFB will continue, warns govt
December 17, 2012  11:05
The Union government has extended the ban on the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) with a fresh notification making it clear that the operation against hawkish factions of these two outfits would continue notwithstanding the on-going peace process involving doves of both the outfits, reports K Anurag in Guwahati.

Though a faction of the ULFA led by its chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa has sat across the table for a dialogue with the government, the faction led by the commander in chief Paresh Barua continues to remain opposed to the peace process.

Similarly, a faction of the NDFB led by Ranjan Dairmari is still not involved in the peace process, while the government has begun peace talks with a faction of the NDFB led by Govinda Basumatary. More on Rediff.com in a bit.
