Indian journalists get a taste of US security

Indian journalists and cameramen covering the meeting of United States President George W Bush and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New York on Friday were roughed up by American security personnel.

The Indians, cleared by US officials to cover the meeting, had been asked to assemble at the venue three hours in advance. But they were not allowed to carry cell phones while their American counterparts were allowed to do so.

When the meeting began, the journalists accompanying the prime minister were allowed in, but even before the cameramen could click, the security personnel pushed them out of the hall in the face of strong protests.
