Pakistan has deployed commandoes in tribal areas bordering Afghanistan to capture Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters.
Officials said the commandoes of Pakistan Army's Special Services Group have been moved to Miranshah, headquarters of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas in North Waziristan Agency, to flush out the fighters hiding in the Pak-Afghan border areas, Dawn newspaper said on Saturday.
About a dozen American "communication experts" are assisting the SSG men, it said.
"The role of the Americans is only to assist our forces. They will not take part in any combat," an official said and ruled out any full-scale military operation.
The main task of the Pakistani troops is to compliment around 150 American and several hundred British, Canadian and other coalition troops operating in south-eastern Afghanistan, the paper quoted officials as saying.
The officials, however, dismissed reports that Osama bin Laden and Taliban chief Mullah Mohammed Omar were hiding in the tribal areas.
