Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Wednesday said American forces were still searching for Taliban chief Mullah Mohammed Omar and Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan.
"We still believe they're in the country. We're still working on that basis, although we are looking at some other places as well," Rumsfeld said at a press briefing.
Meanwhile, President George W Bush on Wednesday reiterated his opposition to involving US troops in the British-led peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
"There's ample support from around the world to provide troops. I have made it clear that our troops will be used to fight and win war," he said.
