Taleban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar has declared jihad against the United States and its Western allies in retaliation to the attack on the militia's installation in Afghanistan, Taleban embassy officials said.
"Omar announced that jihad has been declared against the US soon after the air strikes on Taleban strongholds in Kandahar, Kabul and Jalalabad," they said on Sunday.
Omar has ordered the implementation of the decree issued by Afghan Islamic Clerics councils, enforcing jihad against the US and its Western allies if they attacked Afghanistan, the officials said.
The council, which met last month, passed a resolution asking Osama bin Laden to voluntarily leave Afghanistan and gave its approval to declare a jihad against the US if it went ahead and attacked Afghanistan.
