The United States has issued a firm condemnation of a bomb blast outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in Srinagar on Monday, which killed 29 people.
"We very strongly condemn the attack in Kashmir, as we have previous attacks," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said on Monday.
"We think that no cause can justify the deliberate targeting of civilians in this manner," he said.
"India is a key partner in the global coalition against terrorism, and we do believe that terrorism must be ended everywhere," said Boucher.
"We have continued to maintain a policy on Kashmir. It looks to everybody with influence to reduce the violence and to try to see that the situation there is resolved peacefully," he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan also condemned the car bomb attack
In a brief statement released over the official media, Pakistan said the act of terrorism was aimed at 'maligning the Kashmiris struggle for their right to self-determination'.
The statement added, "Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."
