Northern Alliance advisor Mohammed Hussain Bakhshi on Thursday said an agreement has been reached between former king Zahir Shah's delegation and his team for an interim council to be formed that will run Afghanistan until a national council of tribal elders can be convened in March.
"This is an important breakthrough because had it not come through these talks would have bogged down, but now they have focus," An agency report quoted Mohammad Hussain Bakhshi as saying.
The interim council, according to reports, would comprise 42 members, with 21 members each from the Northern Alliance and the delegation of former king Mohammed Zahir Shah.
