The United States has conceded for the first time that it cannot rule out the possibility of Pakistani helicopters or planes having come into Afghanistan to evacuate Pakistani military or other personnel from Kunduz.
Asked about this on Wednesday night, Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Stufflebeem said, "To say that is not possible would be a bad assumption. We assume it could happen."
He added that in Afghanistan, helicopters or small planes could fly low in the shadow of the mountains and escape the detection of American surveillance.
