Jeev swings for glory

Jeev Milkha Singh has become the first Indian golfer to qualify for the PGA European Tour.

The 25-year-old played to the top of his form at the final qualifying school to comfortably book one of the 40 places on offer.

He shot a four-under-par total of 284 (67 74 71 72) to finish in joint 10th spot, which gives him a good chance of starts in the early events on the European tour.

The ambitious Singh, currently lying third in the Omega order of merit with winnings of 105,375 dollars, took the lead in the 180- player field after his opening five-under-par 67 over the Guadalmina golf club and consolidated his position with three rounds in the low 70s.

Heavy rain which flooded the Guadalmina and San Roque courses reduced the final qualifying from six to four rounds, meaning early joy for Singh.

''It's been my dream to play on either the US or European tours and I'm delighted to have made it through'', said Singh.
