Sidhu, Srinath, Prasad, Kumble back in Indian team

The national selectors late on Saturday announced a 14 member team for the upcoming three-Test series against Sri Lanka.

The squad reads thus: Sachin Tendulkar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ajay Jadeja, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Saurav Ganguly, Nayan Mongia, Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble, Nilesh Kulkarni, Debashish Mohanty, Venkatesh Prasad, Abey Kuruvilla and Rajesh Chauhan.

Srinath and Prasad, who have been out of the national side through injury, have been reinstated. Anil Kumble, dropped for loss of form, has been brought back into the side.

As it stands, the side has six batsmen. Two openers in Sidhu and Jadeja, and four middle order batsmen. Mongia is the sole wicketkeeper, while the lineup boasts four fast to fast medium bowlers, and three spinners.

PS: Harsha Bhogle's analysis of the Indian squad will be available on the Rediff site on Monday.
