Third seeds Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy were brushed aside by Germans Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber in the quarter-finals of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors in Basel on Thursday.

Kas-Kohlschreiber lost only three games in stunning third seeded Indo-Czech pair 6-3, 6-0 and advance to the semi-final of the event.

US Open finalists Paes and Dlouhy have been one of the most in-form teams in recent months, recording a 25-9 match record since first joining forces at Roland Garros.

However, Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles advanced into the semi-finals. The second seed Bhupathi and Knowles overpowered Spanish duo of Marcel Granollers and Feliciano Lopez in 6-4, 6-1.

The Indo-Bahamian pair will now take on Australian Jordan Kerr and Finland's Jarkko Niemen, who outplayed Spaniards Oscar Hernandez and Albert Montanes 6-4, 6-3, in the semi-final.

Thursday was a day dominated by upsets at all three ATP events in St. Petersburg, Basel and Lyon.

St. Petersburg Open top seeds Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle suffered a quarterfinal exit at the hands of Russian wild cards Michail Elgin and Alexandre Kudryavtsev, who prevailed 6-7(3), 6-3, 11-9.

Ranked No. 113 and No. 155 respectively, Elgin and Kudryavstev are through to their first ATP semifinal after falling at the quarterfinal stage in St. Petersburg last year.

At the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon, Australian Stephen Huss and Ross Hutchins of Great Britain knocked out South African third seeds Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie 7-6(4), 3-6, 10-6 to reach their third ATP semifinal of the season.
