Rosenborg Trondheim scored twice in the second half to record a surprise 2-0 win over Valencia in Champions League Group B in Trondheim on Wednesday.

Striker Yssouf Kone gave the Norwegians the lead in the 53rd minute when he converted a pass from Mikael Dorsin.

Defender Vidar Riseth sealed victory eight minutes later when he drove the ball past Valencia keeper Santiago Canizares.

Valencia missed a good chance in the 48th when winger Joaquin shot straight at keeper Lars Hirschfeld from seven metres.

Rosenborg are second in the table with four points from three games while Valencia are third on three points.

Marseille stay top despite draw

Lucho Gonzalez's penalty 11 minutes from time earned Porto a 1-1 draw at Olympique Marseille in their Champions League Group A match in Marseille on Wednesday.

Mamadou Niang had fired Marseille ahead 10 minutes earlier but a draw still keeps the French side top of the group with seven points from three games.

Porto are in second place two points behind with Besiktas two points further back following their 2-1 win over five-times champions Liverpool, who are bottom on one point.

"The first half was clearly for Porto," said Marseille coach Eric Gerets.

"However we were better in the second half and I even thought we were going to win after we scored but a defending mistake cost us a penalty."

Werder back in hunt

Werder Bremen got back in the hunt for a place in the knockout phase of the Champions League by defeating Lazio 2-1 in Group C in Bremen on Wednesday.

Werder took the lead in the 28th minute when Boubacar Sanogo bundled the ball in at the far post and Hugo Almeida made it 2-0 in the 54th by blasting in a Clemens Fritz cross.

Lazio pulled one back in the 82nd, Christian Manfredini firing in the rebound after keeper Tim Wiese pushed away an Aleksandar Kolarov free kick.

Werder held on to claim their first win and move up to third place with three points, behind Real Madrid, who lead with seven, and Olympiakos Piraeus (four). Lazio are bottom on two.
