Basking in the glory of being the world champion, ace archer Dola Banerjee said a medal at the Olympics next year will be the icing on the cake.

After winning the top honour at the recently held World Cup finals in Dubai, Dola said an Olympic medal now looked gettable at the Beijing Games.

"It will be great to win an Olympic medal as it is always special. The competition level is the same in the Olympics because the same people will participate there," the Arjuna awardee told reporters in New Delhi on Thursday.

Asked if she would target the gold medal at the mega event next year, Dola said she would savour any podium finish.

"We should remember that we have not yet won an archery medal in the Olympics. So any medal will be welcome," she said.

However, it would need more than just skills to achieve that, said Dola, insisting that luck too plays a crucial role in the knock-out stage of the competition.

"In such events, it all depends on what kind of draw you get from quarterfinals onwards. Sometimes you shoot 120 and lose and at other times you win even after scoring 105. At that stage, you absolutely get no second chance to recover," she said.

Dola, who is busy attending one after another felicitation functions after winning the world championship, said she needed to get over the celebrations quickly and head towards her practice.

"I am just getting drowned in all these things. There is hardly any break. It will continue till the weekend after which I will go back to my practice. Otherwise, I will have to pay a heavy price for the distractions," she said.

Last week, Dola became the first Indian to claim the gold medal in women's individual recurve competition at the World Cup final. She beat Eun Young Choi of Korea 110-109 in a hard-fought final to emerge champion.

The World Cup final followed four legs of competition in Korea, Turkey, Italy and the UK. Dola was the lone Indian in the fray in the elite field.

Dola had come from behind in the fourth leg in Dover, England, to defeat Zhang in a nerve-wrecking match (111-110) and win the gold medal.
