David Beckham will sit out Los Angeles Galaxy's final SuperLiga group match in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday as he has not fully recovered from a nagging ankle injury.
Galaxy coach Frank Yallop has decided not to play the England midfielder against FC Dallas despite needing a win or a draw to reach the tournament semi-finals.
"He's not out here so he obviously won't be going to Dallas with us," Yallop told reporters during Galaxy's training session on Monday. "We're hoping that everything will be fine for next weekend."
Galaxy visit Toronto FC in a Major League Soccer fixture on August 5, the date long pencilled in as his competitive league debut.
Yallop said Beckham was "itching to get going" and working hard in the gym to remain fit.
"For however frustrated we all are, we've got to wait until the moment when he can step on the field and play," Yallop said. "It's soon, it's coming."
Beckham twisted his ankle playing for England against Estonia in a Euro 2008 qualifying match in early June and aggravated it in his final appearance for Real Madrid 11 days later.
The 32-year-old played briefly against Chelsea in his Galaxy debut on July 21 but has not played since.
