Japan sealed a place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Youth Championship after a 4-0 victory over Tajikistan at the Sree Kanteerava stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday.

In the match played under floodlights, Japan  led 2-0 at half-time, striker Yasuhito Umesaki scoring both the goals, in the eighth and 36th minutes.

The lead was increased in the second half when midfielder Yosuke Kashiwagi netted a pass by Sho Ito in the 57th minute.

The fourth goal came through a solo attempt by Masato Morishige, in the 68th minute.
Having won both their matches in Group 'C' Japan entered last eight stage.
