"I'm not superman," Didier Drogba said, after his goal gave Chelsea a 1-0 win over holders Barcelona in their Champions League Group A game at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

"I just do what the team needs me to do, just keep playing well and score more goals," the Ivory Coast striker told Sky Sports after helping Chelsea put a foot in the knockout phase by taking a maximum nine points from three games.

"I have been waiting for this for two years now," said Drogba after scoring for the first time against Barcelona, whom Chelsea have met in the last three Champions League tournaments.

"It's very difficult to score against Barcelona.

"In the first match I was sent off," he said, recalling the first knockout round tie two years ago when he was dismissed in a 2-1 defeat at the Nou Camp and was suspended for the 4-2 win at home that carried Chelsea through.

"Last year it was difficult (for me) because I was on the bench," he said of another tie between the two big rivals at the same stage last season with Barcelona coming out on top and going on to win the trophy.

"Today we did everything well, we defended very well," said Drogba, Chelsea's top scorer and also the leading marksman in Europe's top club competition this season.

Drogba added that the death in a road accident on Tuesday of a young member of the Chelsea administrative staff overshadowed any joy for the victory.
