Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro and France striker David Trezeguet took time out from their World Cup preparations to travel to Rome on Saturday to be questioned as part of the probe into soccer management company GEA World.

Neither player is under investigation. Both were called to speak to prosecutors Maria Cristina Palaia and Luca Palamara as people "informed of the facts".

After leaving the prosecutors' offices the two Juventus players said they had answered all the questions put to them and now hoped to be able to concentrate on the World Cup.

"At the end the magistrates were satisfied," Cannavaro, who played in Italy's final pre-World Cup friendly against Ukraine in Lausanne on Friday, told Italian news agency ANSA.

GEA World, which counts more than 200 players and coaches on its books, is under investigation for "illegal competition with use of threats and violence".

The company is run by Alessandro Moggi, son of former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi who is at the centre of the allegations of match-fixing in Serie A.

"I answered everything and they told me they won't need to call me in again," Cannavaro said. He now plans to go to the seaside with his family before rejoining the Italian squad.

Trezeguet said he had "explained everything" and was pleased to have got his meeting with the prosecutors out of the way before the start of the World Cup on June 9 in Germany.
