Six-times champion jockey Kieren Fallon will go to the high court in London on July 27 in a bid to quash the ban on him riding in Britain, court officials said on Wednesday.

Irishman Fallon, 41, was banned by the Horseracing Regulatory Authority (HRA) on July 7 pending his trial on conspiracy to defraud in a betting scam and lost his appeal to the authority against the suspension last week.

The jockey, who continues to ride outside Britain, will argue that it is unlawful for the HRA to suspend him as in the eyes of the law he is innocent until proved guilty.

His trial, which will also involve several other people from the racing industry including two other jockeys, is not expected to take place until next year.
