Ace woman long jumper Anju Bobby George would lead the Indian challenge in the one-day Asian Grand Prix Athletics meet on May 26 to be held at the Late Baburao Sanas Sports Complex in Pune.

"Nineteen countries have already confirmed to take part in the meet and Qatar is also expected to send in the entry," Asian Athletics Association and Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi told a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday.

"A total of twenty medallists at the Asian level would be seen in action in Pune which is the only city in the country to have three synthetic tracks for athletics," he said.

The event carries a total prize money of USD 50,000 and a total 17 events would be run, including eight for women, in the third leg of the Asian Grand Prix circuit, the first two legs being scheduled at Bangkok (May 18) and Bangalore (May 22).

"A maximum of eight athletes are permitted for each event, with two representing India and the other six Asia," Kalmadi informed.

Apart from Anju, the 2002 Asian Games gold medal winner, the other Busan Asiad champions who would be seen in action are: Eawi Al Shammari (Kuwait - men's 400m), Damayanti Darsha (Sri Lanka - women's 200m) and Fenjg Yun (China - women's 100m hurdles), as per the entry list.
