Weightlifter Pratima Kumari will file a case in the Delhi high court on Thursday challenging the Indian Olympic Association's decision to ban her for life, her lawyer, Sushil Salwan, said in Delhi on Wednesday.

"I was procuring some additional documents required for filing the case," Salwan, who was supposed to file the case on Monday, said.

He said he would file only Pratima's case on Thursday, but it would provide relief for the other two lifters – Sanamacha Chanu and S Sunaina – also, since they also objected to the life ban imposed on them.

As per the rules of the International Weightlifting Federation, a lifter is banned for two years if caught for a doping offence once in any international event.

But the IOA decided to ban the lifters for life even though they were caught once in international events.

"Pratima has also questioned the findings of the SAI dope laboratory and would be filing her representation to the International Weightlifting Federation as per its rules, and if she does not get relief even after that she would appeal," he said.

The three lifters were banned for life after Chanu and Pratima failed dope tests in the Athens Olympics, while Sunaina failed the dope test in the Asian championships in Kazakhstan in April.
