Bhupathi-Mirnyi to team up again

Indian tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi will renew his doubles partnership with Belarussian Max Mirnyi in two weeks.

The duo will be seen on the same side of the court from the Monte Carlo Masters Series, beginning on April 14, according to Bhupathi's training consultant Enrico Piperno.

The Bhupathi-Mirnyi combination had, in 2002, won the US Open doubles besides claiming another title. They had also made it to the final of four championships as well that year.

But the pair broke up thereafter because Mirnyi wanted to concentrate on his singles career.

"However, Mirnyi did play a lot of doubles with other partners during this time and when Mahesh pointed this out and offered to resume their partnership, he agreed," Piperno said.

Mirnyi is believed to have admitted that his understanding with Bhupathi was better and together they had produced a better team game than either could with their other partners.

So far, both have agreed to team up in the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.

Piperno said Bhupathi's partnership with Australian Joshua Eagle didn't quite work out as both were right court players and that the Indian star had already begun looking for a new ally.
