World champion Viswanathan Anand continued from where he left off to outsmart Grandmaster Peter Leko of Hungary in the sixth round of the Dortmund Sparkassen Chess meeting being held in Dortmund, Germany.

GM Viktor Bologan of Moldova stretched his lead to 1.5 points after beating German GM Arkadi Naditisch.

Bologan has thus far amassed five points out of a possible six and is trailed by Vladimir Kramnik on 3.5 points.

Anand has moved to sole third position while GM Teimour Radjabov of Azerbaijan is in fourth spot with 2.5 points.

At the bottom, Leko and Naiditsch are tied on 2 points each.

Anand opened with the Sicilian Najdorf and faced the sharp English Attack. The Hungarian did get some positional advantage in the early stages of the middle game but blew it up with some over ambitious manoeuvres that cost him dearly.

Anand cashed in on his superior piece placement is style and left Leko defenceless after his 46th move.

In the post match chat, Anand said, "His 17th move appeared new, but I was just about maintaining equality. My queen, before the time control, was the winning move."

"It is nice to come back with two wins," he said.

The Indian ace had earlier beaten Naiditsch in the fifth round game.

Bologan outclassed Naiditsch for the second time in the tournament.

Naiditsch has shown some promise with draws against Leko and Kramnik in the first half but it appears it will take some more time for him to get in to the shoes of a world class Grandmaster.

Against Bologan, he was faced with a Marshall attack with the Moldovian not letting the 'real' attack come through.

The middle game was simple with Naiditsch trying to get counter play but the German proved no match and went down in 36 moves.

"Naiditsch wasted a valuable tempo on his 15th turn after which I gained the upper hand," said Bologan after the game.

Radjabov drew with Kramnik without much ado. The Azerbaijani sensation has not been very ambitious with the favourable white colour in this event and it was yet again evident in his game against Kramnik.

The truce was signed in just 23 moves.

"I offered the draw, as I felt it was very equal and Kramnik accepted it," said Radjabov.

Results, round 6:

Viktor Bologan (5, Mda) beat Arkadi Naiditsch (2, Ger); Peter Leko (2, Hun) lost to Viswanathan Anand (3); Teimour Radjabov (2.5, Aze) drew Vladimir Kramnik (3.5, Rus).
