Greene signs up for 2002 Golden League

World and Olympic 100 metres champion Maurice Greene will take part in all the Golden League meetings this year, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) said on Monday.

Greene will attend all seven Golden League meetings, beginning with the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 28 and ending in Berlin on Friday, September 6.

"With no World Championships or Olympic Games in 2002, the Golden League will have a special significance," said IAAF president Lamine Diack.

"We expect nothing less than to have our best athletes at our best meetings in their best form," he added.

The 2002 competition offers a share in 50 kilograms of gold to any athlete who wins their discipline at all seven meetings, last year only five wins were required.

Golden League events:

Bislett Games Oslo, June 28
Gaz de France Paris St-Denis, July 5
Golden Gala Rome, July 12
Herculis Monaco, July 19
Weltklasse Zurich, August 16
Memorial Van Damme Brussels, August 30
ISTAF 2002 Berlin, September 6
