Bhupathi-Gambill in semis

Mahesh Bhupathi and Jan-Michael Gambill qualified for the doubles semi-finals in the Hamburg Masters Series tennis tournament, beating wild cards Nicolas Kiefer and Andrei Pavel 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 (match tie-breaker) in the quarter-finals on Friday.

The duo, who had beaten Leander Paes and Tomas Cibulec in the earlier round, will take on Wayne Ferreira and Yevgeny Kafelnikov, who accounted for second seeds Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor 6-7(6) 7-6(2) 10-8 in another quarter-final.

In the other semi-final, Jiri Novak and R. Stepanek clash with Jonas Bjorkman and Todd Woodbridge. The former pair beat Joshua Eagle and Sandon Stolle 7-5, 3-6, 10-5, while Bjorkman and Woodbridge accounted for D. Adams/M. Kohlmann 6-3, 4-6, 11-9.
