Paes-Bhupathi in Mallorca Open semis

The top seeded Indian doubles pair of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi entered the semi-finals of the $381,000 Mallorca Open tennis tournament in Spain on Thursday.

The duo easily defeated Stephen Huss of Australia and Myles Wakefield of South Africa 6-4, 6-3 in their quarter-final match.

They next face the unseeded pair of Michael Hill of Australia and Daniel Vacek of Czechoslovakia in the other semi-final. Hill and Vacek upset the Argentine third seeds Lucas Arnold and Gaston Etlis 7-6(7), 7-6(5).

In the other semi-final, the singles entry doubles team of Gustavo Kuerten and Andre Sa from Brazil will face Julian Knowle of Austria and Michael Kohlmann of Germany. Knowle and Kohlmann defeated second seeds Sjeng Schalken of the Netherlands and Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe in the quarter-finals.
