'The Indian Express' is
back on track

The top seeded Indian doubles pair of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi entered the quarter-finals of the $381,000 Mallorca Open tennis tournament in Spain on Wednesday.

The duo defeated the unseeded pair of Aleksandar Kitinov of Makadonia and Johan Landsberg of Sweden 6-4, 6-7(6), (10-7) in their first round match.

The victory put an end to the three-match losing streak they had before splitting up, and also the three-match losing streaks they each individually had with different partners.

In the quarter-finals, the duo will face Stephen Huss of Australia and Myles Wakefield of South Africa. Huss and Wakefield beat the singles entry doubles team of Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia and Albert Portas of Spain 6-3, 6-3 in the first round.
