Sumit Prakash Gupta and Rupesh Roy gave India a winning 2-0 lead against Chinese Taipei when play was suspended in the doubles tie of the group-2 league match in the Asia-Oceania qualifying tournament for the World junior(under14), at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo on Wednesday.

Only two of the seven ties were completed when afternoon rain interrupted play. Thailand and Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan and Malaysia 3-0 in their respective ties.

India is seeded fifth in the event, while Korea is the top-seed. The other teams in group -2 are third seed Australia, Indonesia and Chinese Taipei.

In the first singles, Sumit Prakash Gupta easily defeated Min Fu Ko 6-1, 6-1 and Rupesh Roy got the better of Chien Chih Wu 6-3, 6-2 to give India a 2-0 lead.

In the doubles, the Indian duo, Sumit and Rupesh, won the first set 6-1 against Min Fu Ko and Yao Cheng Wang before play was suspended due to rain.
