Goal feast in National
women's hockey

It was a goal glut and massacre of the weak on the second day of the Coca Cola 51st Senior women's national hockey championship at the Surjit Singh hockey stadium in Jalandhar on Tuesday.

33 goals were scored by the three winning sides, with last year's runners-up Haryana pumping in 17 against a hapless Madhya Pradesh.

Hosts and former champions Punjab had the tiny Manipur girls at their mercy as they scored ten goals.

In the third match, Mumbai blanked out Tamil Nadu by six goals.

The three losing sides in today's league matches failed to score even a single goal against their respective opponents.

The highlight of the day was the first hat-trick of the tournament by Punjab forward Mohan Davinder Kaur, who scored five goals.
