Krishnan Madasamy clinches three silver

India's Krishnan Madasamy clinched the silver medals in snatch, clean and jerk and overall in the men's 62kg category in the weightlifting event of the 17th Commonwealth Games on Tuesday.

Madasamy lifted 267.5 kg, Yourik Sarkisian of Australia took the gold on 277.5 kg while Marcus Stephen of Nauru took bronze with 265 kg lift.

In the snatch, Sarkisian started lifting at 120kg and progressed to 125 by his third lift. Stephen went to 122.5 but had one ‘no lift’ which allowed Madasamy, whose best was 117.5, to take the silver.

In clean and jerk, Stephen failed in a late attempt to lift 155, a value which Sarkisian achieved with his third lift. Madasamy attempted 162.5 without success and had to be content with 150.
