Bopanna in semis of US Futures doubles event

Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna and Morgan Wilson of Australia entered the semi-finals in the US$15,000 Futures event at St Joseph's, Missouri, USA, on Thursday.

The duo, unseeded at the event, defeated Raven Klaasen of South Africa and Michael Kosta of the United States 6-4, 6-3 in their quarter-final match.

Earlier in the first round, the duo had to work hard to beat the widlcard American pair of Ytai Abougzir and Nick Monroe 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4.

They next face Brandon Kramer of the US and Nenad Toroman of South Africa.

In the other semi-final, third seed Chris Magyary of the US and Mirko Pehar of Crotia will take on the second seeded American pair of Huntley Montgomery and Ryan Sachire.

In the singles, seventh seed Bopanna had a first round exit, losing to the Chinese qualifier Shao-Xuan Zeng 7-5, 1-6, 3-6.
