Schumacher reluctant to try rallying

Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher will take some tempting to join rally driver Colin McRae in a contest between them.

Briton McRae sounded enthusiastic about the idea of a charity challenge after his record win in the Safari Rally last weekend but Ferrari's Schumacher was reluctant when asked at a French Grand Prix news conference on Thursday.

"I have been interested in running a rally car in the past," he said. "I have to say that I'm less interested now because I'm not so much into it any more.

"But maybe one day when I have time enough I would like to do it in a safe place because I'm not interested in going through the forest and risking my life."

Schumacher can win a record-equalling fifth title at Sunday's race after already taking seven victories in 10 races this season.
