France sack Lemerre
after dismal World Cup

Roger Lemerre was sacked as France coach on Friday, 24 days after the defending champions' humiliating World Cup first round exit.

"Roger Lemerre has been discharged of his mission," French Soccer Federation president Claude Simonet said at the end of a FFF council meeting in Lyon.

Lemerre's replacement will be chosen after consultations and named at a later stage, he added.
