Brazil back on top of FIFA rankings

World champions Brazil are back on top of the FIFA world rankings, released by football's world governing body on Wednesday.

Brazil, who clinched their record fifth World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Germany in the final on Sunday, displaced first-round losers France and Argentina to joint second spot.

World Cup runners-up Germany, who had fallen out of the top 10 for the first time in their history after a poor qualifying World Cup campaign, climbed six spots to fifth.

Spain also advanced four places to fourth, although they lost in the quarter-finals to co-hosts South Korea, who made a massive leap of 18 places to 22.

Turkey, who finished third in the World Cup, are ranked 12th, moving up 10 places.

African quarter-finalists Senegal are 31st.

India continue to occupy the rear in 124th position.
