Mirza, Smolenakov win
doubles title

Indian junior Sania Mirza and Linda Smolenakov of Slovakia won the doubles title at the Victorian Grade II girls tennis championship played at Traralgon, Australia on Wednesday.

The Indo-Slovakian pair, seeded second in the event, defeated unseeded Russian pair of Nina Bratchikova and Joulia Vorobieva 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in a comeback match.

The Hyderabad-based lass is ranked 43rd in doubles and 29th in singles on the ITF listings.

Earlier in the semi-final the duo had defeated Katja Blocker of Germany and Hanna Nooni of Sweden 7-5, 6-2.
