Anand and Popat move into fourth round

Top seeds Chetan Anand and Aparna Popat moved into the fourth round of the 66th Syed Modi Memorial Senior Badminton Championship in Lucknow on Wednesday.

Anand representing Petroleum Sports Control Board beat P Sunil of Air India 4-7, 7-1, 7-1, 8-6, while Popat also representing PSCB crushed Amruta Bhattacharya of West Bengal 7-2, 7-0, 7-0.

Third seed Sachin Ratti of Railway reached the fourth round beating A Pridhvi of Air India 7-1 7-2 7-4.

In the men's section, Utsav Isra and Ravinder Singh of Uttar Pradesh also joined the top seeds in the fourth round with convincing victories.

In the women's section, Jwala Gutta, Shruti Kurian, P V V Laxmi (all from PSCB), Sampada Shetty of Railway and Trupti Murugunde of Air India also moved into the fourth round.
