Paes-De Jager bow out in first round

Leander Paes and his new partner, South African John-Laffnie de Jager, went out in the first round in the Monte Carlo ATP Masters in Monaco on Tuesday.

The unseeded India-South African pair ran into top seeds Donald Johnson and Jared Palmer of the US and lost 2-6, 0-6.

Mahesh Bhupathi, who along with Paes won three Grand Slam doubles titles before separating for a second time recently, is partnering American Jeff Tarrango. The duo, seeded fourth, will meet the unseeded French pair of Arnaud Clement and Nicolas Escude.
