IA, Punjab Police in semi-finals

Star-studded Indian Airlines and strong contenders Punjab Police drew their last Group B quarter-final league match 1-1 and entered the semi-finals in the 107th Servo-Beighton Cup hockey tournament in Kolkata on Monday.

Sarabjit Singh put the policemen ahead and Dilip Tirkey equalised for Indian Airlines.

Last year's runners up Border Security Force, Jalandhar, were shown door after Punjab and Sind Bank beat them by the odd goal in three in a Group A quarter-final encounter.

PSB and Central Reserve Police Force made it to the semi-finals. CRPF, PSB and BSF were tied on six points but BSF were edged out because of an inferior goal difference.

Defending champions Central Industrial Security Force, however, despite their 2-1 win over Army XI in the same group went out of the race.

Favourites Indian Airlines, who topped Group B with five points take on CRPF, the Group A runners-up, in the semifinals while PSB, who topped Group A, meet Punjab Police, Group B runners-up, on Tuesday.
