Unseeded Swiss shocks Amanjot Singh

Unseeded Swiss Domic Stoecwer shocked top seed Amanjot Singh of India 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 to move into the boys singles (under-18) pre-quarter-finals of the ITF junior (Grade-4) tennis circuit in Mumbai.

However, the other seeded players - second seed Rohan Gajjar of India, third seed Anuwatf Daldom of Thailand, fourth seed Karan Rastogi and and fifth seed Jacob Mathew (both from India) - in the boys section had no difficulty in moving into the last 16 stage.

Gajjar, the most improved junior player from India, was a picture of confidence in his 6-2, 6-2 victory over unseeded Emanuel Prakaso of Thailand while Daldom blanked out another unseeded player Vivek Bakuni (India) 6-0, 6-0.

Rastogi, playing a solid baseline game, drubbed unseeded N Pongkunsud of Thailand 6-2 6-2, while Jacob Mathew crushed Dhurb Kumar of India 6-0 6-1 on way to pre-quarter-finals.

Sixth seed Al Ibraham of Indonesia sidelined V Sunder Prashanth of India 6-4 6-3 while seventh seed Sratha Saengswarn of Thailand subdued lucky loser Sanjay Salian of India 6-2, 6-0.

Eighth seed Arun Prakash of India defeated wild card Indrakumar Mahajan of India 6-2 7-5.

The others players who made it to the last 16 were K Somdev Verman, wild card Amit Karunakaran, unseeded Vikas Punna, Saurabh Kohli, Sharan Divij and Rishi Behl, qualifier Arka Mondal and wild card Tushar Liberhan (all from India).
