India mulls withdrawal from SAF Games

India's decision to take part in a regional Games in Pakistan next month will depend on security arrangements in the host country, an Indian Olympic official said on Monday.

The seven-nation South Asian Federation (SAF) Games, due to be held in Pakistan's capital Islamabad from October 6 to 15, are in doubt after the terror attacks in the United States.

"We will decide on the SAF Games participation in a day or two. But we will have to see the security situation," Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Suresh Kalmadi said.

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan are the other countries scheduled to take part in the biennial Games.

The government has refused to allow its cricket team to travel to Pakistan to play in a four-nation Asian Test Championship later this month.
