Sayeed leads in National bowling

With most of the leading bowlers in action, the second day of the ColorPlus National bowling championships was a day of keen contests, high drama, and near level scores at the end of each game. But at the end of the second day, Saad Sayeed scored 1134 to take the lead the qualifiers round.

Sayeed started with a score of 170 in the first game and scored 193, 171, 188, 227 and 185 thereafter in games 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 respectively. Murad Nathani, who had an aggregate of 1116 , eventually came in second, with Aspi Tangri coming in third after scoring a total of 1115.

In the Corporate category, Kuntal Kar, from Computalog Ltd., finished with 579 for the day followed by John Mathew, from Exim Bank, who scored 514. Vikram Sood, also from Computalog, came in third with a score of 468.

In the Open category, Abbas Contractor topped the day with a score of 717 followed by Pratik Girdhar and Mikil Baval with scores of 671 and 658 respectively.

The Women’s category saw Anjana Goenka taking the lead with an aggregate of 1012. She was followed by Shibani Suri, who scored 872, and Payal Kothari, with 812.

The ColorPlus national championships, the highest prize-money bowling tournament in India, has a winner’s purse of Rs. 100,000 and total prize-money of Rs. 500,000. All 32 bowlers who make it to the finals in Bombay are guaranteed prize-money based on their performance.

In addition, the women’s championship will carry prize-money of Rs. 50,000.
