Shandilya shocks Foldvari

Indian billiards ace Ashok Shandilya shocked world No. 6 Robbie Foldvari of Australia 435-358 in the first round of the British Open billiards championship, at Middlesborugh, England, on Thursday night.

According to information, Shandilya, ranked ninth, beat back a last-visit effort of 70 by Foldvari to come out trumps.

Nalin Patel, also of India, accounted for Ian Williamson of England 458-326.

Shandilya made a smooth 90 in his second visit and four visits later cued a 70. After Foldvari hit back with a 59, he made breaks of 51, 88 and 62.

Patel was also in his element, registering breaks of 62, 86 and 75.
