Pakistan grants visas to Indian junior squad

Pakistan, in dispute with India over Kashmir, has granted visas at the last minute to an Indian volleyball squad for a tournament in Islamabad.

"We got the visas today and the team leaves (for Lahore) by the evening flight," a Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) official said on Tuesday.

The Indian junior volleyball team will take part in the Asian qualifying tournament for the world junior championship. The tournament in Islamabad starts on Thursday.

As a result of its dispute with Pakistan, India cancelled a cricket tour of Pakistan late last year. It also denied the Indian cricket team permission to play in a tournament in Sharjah alongside Pakistan last month.

But the Indian government has taken a more lenient approach to other sports. It allowed the country's hockey team to play in a tournament in Dhaka involving Pakistan.
