Anup Sridhar for badminton
World Academy

Promising youngster Anup Sridhar has been selected to take part in the seventh International Badminton Federation's World Academy, which will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, from July 21 to August 4.

Anup Sridhar Sridhar 18, is trainee at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bangalore and play's for Air-India.

The Bangalore-based Sridhar lost in the pre-quarter-finals of the NTPC National championship this year.

Some of the important junior tournaments which Sridhar has won are: the under 13yrs in the Krishna Khaitan tournament in Madras during 1995; the under-16 Krishna Khaitan tournament in Madras during 1998; the under-16 Kwality Biscuits tournament at Bangalore during 1998 and the Sonora All India junior ranking tournament at Kozhikode in 2000.

The World Academy is badminton's flagship development event and represents an annual meeting of some of the world’s best coaches and a selection of young and promising players and coaches from a cross-section of badminton-playing nations; all taking place in world-class training conditions.

This is the seventh annual Academy, and its staging in Oceania represents the final stage in IBF Development Committee's desire to circulate the event amongst each of the five continents.

Of the 50 selected candidates, 37 different countries will be represented, making it one of IBF's most represented international events.
